TabHue

Getting started

TabHue sorts your tabs into colour-coded Chrome tab groups on its own, and opens beside them in Chrome's side panel. Here's everything you need for the first few minutes.

Install and pin

  1. Add TabHue from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click the puzzle piece at the top right of Chrome, then the pin next to TabHue. It now sits in your toolbar, one click away.

Your first minute

TabHue starts with three categories: Social, Work and Learning. Open a few sites you use every day and watch them gather into coloured tab groups. Each group's name shows how many tabs it holds, like Work (3).

University and school websites join Learning automatically.

Open TabHue

Click the TabHue icon, or press Alt+Shift+T (Option+Shift+T on a Mac). TabHue opens in the side panel and stays open while you browse, following the tab you're on. Rather not reach for the toolbar? Turn on TabHue tab on pages in Settings: a small tab on the right edge of every page opens and closes TabHue in one click. Drag it up or down, or press its × to hide it on a site. The first time, it asks you to name your pet.

Home at a glance

  • Current tab. The top row shows the site you're on and its category. Click the category to move the tab somewhere else.
  • Today. One bar shows how long you've spent in each category today, and how close you are to any daily limit.
  • Focus. One switch parks distracting categories, or start a 25, 50 or 90 minute focus session. More about focus.
  • Your pet. How it's doing, and a treat button. More about your pet.
  • Categories. Each row shows its open tabs and today's time. Hover a row to mute, park or edit it, and drag rows to reorder them.

The tabs at the top lead to Pets, Insights and Tasks. The gear opens Settings.

Pausing TabHue

The switch at the top of TabHue pauses it. It removes the groups TabHue made and stops sorting new tabs until you switch it back on. Groups you made yourself are never touched.
